CELEBRATE
A LEGACY
Building a platform to visualize the unseen changes
American Indian education must center the voices of our people. We are the rightful inheritors of this land, and it is our duty to preserve, protect, and illuminate our history.
While your historical narrative may commence with the arrival of your people, it's crucial to recognize that history doesn't begin there. The traumatic legacy of colonization and genocide against Indigenous peoples continues to shape the present. The wars, policies, and regulations implemented by invading powers were designed to eradicate Indigenous populations and establish a new order, one that often sought to erase Indigenous visibility.
Our historical ties have been overshadowed by narratives that glorify false "discovery" holidays and promote the idea that immigrants solely built and founded this land. This dominant discourse persists until we are included at the decision-making table, at which point we must demand space to share our often-ignored history. To disrupt the "out of sight, out of mind" mentality, we must advocate for equity and equality, ensuring a platform for all voices that understand the true origins of this land.
